This initiative is part of the UUM 40th Anniversary celebration organised by the UUM School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts (SCIMPA).
The expedition team, led by the Dean of SCIMPA, Assoc. Prof. Dr Adzrool Idzwan Ismail along with three staff members and four students, departed for Kathmandu at 1.30 p.m. During their mission, which concludes on 28 December 2024, they aim to raise the UUM flag at Everest Base Camp.
The team will produce creative works and content, including virtual reality (VR) experiences, a short documentary as a digital guide for future climbers, as well as book, travel logs and creative materials related to climbing sports.
The team leader, Assoc. Prof. Dr Adzrool Idzwan Ismail stated that preparations are at an optimal level of 110% readiness. According to him, the challenges in terms of physical endurance can continue to be improved, but the extreme cold, with temperatures forecasted to reach -25oC, poses a significant challenge for the team.
