PENANG: The Accounting Competency Challenge (ACC) 2024, an international event that brought together the brightest minds in accounting, concluded on 19 August at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Organised annually by Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) UUM Chapter, the four-day competition saw participants from across the globe engage in a rigorous series of tasks designed to test and expand their accounting expertise.
The opening ceremony took place on 16 August and was attended by esteemed individuals including Prof. Dr Ram Al Jaffri Saad, the Assistant Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA); Assoc. Prof. Dr Arifatul Husna Mohd. Ariff, the Deputy Dean (Academic & International) of TISSA; Assoc. Prof. Dr Raja Haslinda Raja Mohd Ali, the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of TISSA; Dr Nor Atikah Shafai, the Coordinator of BGS UUM Chapter; Ms. Look Qian Ni, President of BGS Cohort 7; Mr. Lim Qing Jun, Project Director of ACC2024; the members of the ACC2024 organising committee, representatives from USM Accounting Society, sponsors and participants from ASEAN countries.
ACC2024 showcased a series of dynamic challenges designed to test and highlight the skills of participants. The event commenced with a mentoring session, offering valuable insights and guidance. A series of competitive activities followed, including Challenge 1: Cogito Conclave, Challenge 2: Ouro Esperto, Repechage Challenge: Renacido Espirito, and Final Challenge: Zenith Campionato.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Dzarfan Abdul Kadir, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs & Alumni) of TISSA, along with esteemed guests.
The lucky draw winners received numerous prizes. Additionally, the best team and best presenter from the mentoring session were announced. Furthermore, Dr Dzarfan was accompanied by Mr. Lim Qing Jun to present the prizes to the Champion Team, 1st Runner-Up Team, and 2nd Runner-Up Team.
