UUM ONLINE: The sealing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and NAMA Foundation (NAMA) meets the internationalisation agenda outlined and strengthens the university's reputation globally.
The MoU signing ceremony between the two parties was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani, who represented UUM, and Dr Saleh Mubarak Bazead, the Chief Executive Officer, who represented NAMA Foundation. The ceremony took place at the Visitors' Lounge this morning.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan said the collaboration demonstrates NAMA's commitment to enhancing the quality of UUM's education and research efforts. In addition, numerous collaborative activities can be pursued together.
According to him, UUM strives to enhance its global visibility by engaging in academic and international activities, which are crucial components of the international arena.
"UUM is delighted to collaborate with the NAMA Foundation, a renowned organisation dedicated to sustainable development and community support. The global initiatives undertaken by NAMA in education and community empowerment align with UUM's mission to bring about positive change through knowledge and leadership.
"This collaboration will enhance the quality of UUM's education through staff exchange, research collaboration, and international conferences. The NAMA Foundation’s support aligns with UUM's mission to provide exceptional academic opportunities and contributes to the university’s aspiration of becoming a leading education hub,” he said in his speech that was read by Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin.
Meanwhile, Dr Saleh Mubarak expressed his appreciation to UUM for the signing of the historic MoU between the NAMA Foundation and UUM.
According to him, NAMA Foundation is renowned for its commitment to global education empowerment and bolstering non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
He said, the presence of NAMA in Sintok reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to establish a strategic collaboration involving the Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government (GSGSG) and the Institute of Excellence in Jerusalem Studies (IEIJS).
"We are confident that this collaboration will thrive and bring mutual benefits to NAMA and UUM," he said.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor made a brief visit to meet and greet Dr Saleh Mubarak and captured some photographs to commemorate the occasion.
Also present at the ceremony were the Legal Advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr Khadijah Mohamed; Dean of GSGSG, Prof. Dr Rusdi Omar; and the Director of IEIJS, UUM, Assoc. Prof. Dr Aminurraasyid Yatiban.
