UUM ONLINE: Pusat Kajian Kes Pengurusan dan Kepimpinan (PKKPK), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is truly delighted with the one-year programme initiated with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) in November of last year.
In this programme, the PKKPK assists educators at INCEIF to develop teaching cases and teaching notes. On the 24 and 25 of July, an evaluation of the draft teaching cases and teaching notes was conducted.
PKKPK was extremely delighted with the outcome, as INCEIF successfully generated nearly 22 teaching cases. After a thorough review, PKKPK offered valuable feedback and conducted coaching sessions to help improve these cases.
Following the conclusion of the writing process, Dr Narentheren, the Director of PKKPK, conducted a workshop on teaching with case studies.
During the workshop, he provided a comprehensive overview of the case study teaching process.
Next, the necessary prerequisites for effective case teaching were examined, and valuable insights on what to do before, during and after a case teaching session were also discussed. He also shared tips and tricks to enhance the case teaching experience.
Meanwhile, in a demonstration teaching session, Dr Narentheren utilised a case study titled "Managing Ahmad’s Financial Distress," written by Assoc. Prof. Dr Lim Chee Chee from the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) at UUM. The session garnered positive responses from the participants, who found it enjoyable and captivating.
PKKPK and INCEIF will collaborate on a joint project that involves compiling teaching cases and publishing them as a compendium of case studies. The compendium is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Being the PKKPK flagship initiative, it involves assisting educators in generating teaching cases and teaching notes, offering coaching sessions for enhancement, providing training on case-based instruction, and ultimately publishing the cases.
