27 May 2024, Sintok, UUM - Student Representatives Council (SRC), in collaboration with Global Buddies Club (GBC) UUM and the International Student Society (ISS) UUM, hosted an extraordinary event, the "Cross-Cultural Crescendo Night," at the PBS Arena, UUM. The event, held on the evening, brought together over 50 participants, including most international students, to celebrate the vibrant tapestry of global cultures.
The event was attended by Dr. Mohd Azhar Bin Abu Bakar, the Director of the UUM Art and Culture Centre and Mr. Mohd Hafidz Baharudin, Assistant Director at the Centre of International Affairs & Cooperation (CIAC).
The Cross-Cultural Crescendo Night was a vivid and colourful celebration, filled with performances that showcased traditional dances, music, and a stunning fashion show where participants displayed traditional attire from their respective countries. The atmosphere was electric with the warmth of community spirit and the joy of shared traditions. Students from Indonesia, China, Iraq, Yamen, and Nigeria participated in the programme to showcase their cultures, traditions, songs and dance.
The event's primary aim was to deepen appreciation for cultural diversity among students. SRC, GBC, ISS members, and CIAC representatives worked tirelessly to create an inclusive environment where students from various backgrounds could share their heritage and learn from one another. The evening's activities included cultural showcasing, dance performances, and tastings of international cuisine, offering a rich tapestry of traditions and customs.
Participants gained valuable insights into different cultural practices, which fostered a sense of unity and respect for cultural differences — a key aspect of global citizenship. The event provided a platform for students to develop interpersonal skills and global awareness, making it a cherished learning experience.
