On April 17, 2024, the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC) at UUM organised an Open Day designed to expose students to the opportunities afforded by the university’s esteemed student exchange programs with its global partners. Notably, the event also served as a platform to provide crucial assistance to international students regarding visa and pass renewals. Additionally, CIAC seized the occasion to elucidate staff exchange opportunities for lecturers and foster international collaborations through MoU/MoA agreements.
The event contained diverse activities and enlightening talks across multiple venues, including the CIAC Office, U Assist, and Red Café UUM. Participants attended sessions tailored to their interests and needs, ranging from insightful briefings on outbound mobility opportunities to discussions with inbound mobility students.
One of the sessions was a dialogue with inbound mobility students, sharing their firsthand experiences and offering invaluable insights and feedback. The UUM Global Buddies were also involved in the programme to support the inbound mobility students. The event was equally significant in shedding light on student visa reviews and application statuses to ensure international students comply with immigration regulations.
The overarching goal of the CIAC Open Day was to provide UUM students and staff with a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities available through CIAC UUM for the community to engage in international activities. As such, the sessions attracted a diverse audience comprising full-time local and international students, inbound mobility students, and lecturers and staff.
Through fostering a culture of openness and collaboration, CIAC endeavours to empower students and staff to explore and embrace the transformative potential of global mobility. As participants depart from the event enriched with knowledge and inspiration, CIAC remains committed to nurturing a community of globally-minded individuals primed to thrive in an interconnected world and working to achieve UUM’s mission to educate leaders with holistic characteristics to serve the global community.
