UUM ONLINE: Jakarta, Indonesia, 24 July 2022 – Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in its pursuit to strengthening the internationalization agenda, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, receives a very commendable feedback when 20 higher education institutions in the Republic of Indonesia expressed their intentions to establish a cooperative relationship with the university.
Among the 20 institutions include Sultan Agung Islamic University in Central Java, Ahmad Dahlan University in Jogjakarta, Hasanuddin University in South Sulawesi, Mulawarman University, Samarinda, and PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang University in Malang City.
Into the bargain is the Private Higher Education Association which houses 4,000 private higher education institutions under its umbrella, implying to send more of their staff to continue higher education at UUM.
Other universities are Muhammadiah University Jakarta, Muhammadiah University Tangerang, Jakarta State University, Brawijaya University, and Trisakti University.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah said, the agreed cooperation involves collaborations in research, development of student mobility programmes, staff exchange, smart sharing of facilities, joint organization of seminar conferences, and the offering of programmes at the bachelor, master and Doctor of Philosophy levels.
He further added that the large-scale signing ceremony has indirectly reflected the confidence of higher education institutions in the neighbouring country towards the reputation of the sixth best university in the country is still intact and in fact the university’s effort is warmly welcomed by all parties.
According to him, UUM will also collaborate with 30 other universities in Indonesia in the near future and consequently hopes that through this academic collaboration visit, he will continue to connect with various parties, especially the Private Higher Education Association.
In addition to the ceremony, 150 students received letters of offer to continue their studies at undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for admission in the upcoming semester.
Apart from that, UUM Edufair Exhibition was also held in collaboration with agents in Indonesia at Royal Kuningan Hotel, Jakarta aims at strengthening the university's internationalization agenda, and promoting UUM through the alumni network in Indonesia.
A total of 80 alumni including the former Head of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Marzuki Alie and Director of Finance and Human Resources, PT Borneo Alummina Indonesia, Fredia Yuzirwan attended the event.
