UUM ONLINE: Attaining AACSB accreditation is one of the highest achievements for any educational institution that offers a business degree.
The strict accreditation process involves rigorous internal review, evaluation and adjustment, and therefore it usually takes several years for an institution to meet the nine standards set by AACSB International. All accredited business schools must go through a Peer Review process every five years to maintain their accreditation.
Looking at UUM's success in maintaining AACSB accreditation for another five years until 2026, the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has expressed its intention to appoint UUM as a consultant for their AACSB journey.
In a discussion session held online, the Deputy Director, Global Strategy and Accreditation Division (GloSA), Center for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faizuniah Pangil briefly explained the process, tips and challenges that FEP, UKM needs to prepare in order to obtain the AACSB accreditation.
According to Dr. Faizuniah, an institution or faculty needs the cooperation and commitment from all its academic and non-academic members to succeed in this journey towards AACSB accreditation. Furthermore, an AACSB accreditation team consisting of a good combination of individuals who are dedicated to continuously improve the quality of education must be formed to work on this project.
In the discussion, FEP, UKM AACSB Coordinator, Dr. Sharizal Hashim, stated the need for UKM to seek UUM’s advice and expertise in preparing all documentations for the AACSB accreditation.
Also present was AACSB Manager, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Asma Lode and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norani Nordin.
