The Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), is excited to announce that in just one week, Winter Xchange @UUM 2025 will begin, welcoming 36 students from Termez State University and Termez State Pedagogical Institute, Uzbekistan for an enriching short-term mobility experience. From 10-13 February 2025 (Online) to 18-28 February 2025 (Face-to-Face), this immersive programme fosters meaningful cross-cultural exchange, equipping students with valuable insights into Malaysia’s education system, creative industries, and diverse heritage.
With a carefully curated itinerary, participants will engage in cultural ambassador assignments, classroom-based learning experiences, creative and digital arts workshops, and CSR engagements with local communities. The programme also offers hands-on experiences that will deepen their understanding of Malaysia’s traditions and way of life.
As part of its immersive community engagement initiative, students will experience Living the Local Way at a selected community centre in Kubang Pasu, where they will interact with the local community, engage in a hands-on traditional cooking session, and discover Malaysia’s cultural heritage. Additionally, they will take part in a Sustainability & SDG Workshop, focusing on community impact and responsible living, and explore the traditional art of Batik Chanting, an iconic element of Malaysian craftsmanship.
Students will also embark on a specially curated Alor Setar Tour to introduce them to Malaysia’s historical and cultural landscape. Highlights of this tour include a visit to Pekan Rabu, a thriving hub for local entrepreneurship and traditional handicrafts, an exploration of Balai Seni and Masjid Zahir, where they will gain insights into Malaysia’s artistic and spiritual heritage, and a trip to the State Museum, where they will trace the country’s historical roots and cultural evolution.
With just one week to go, UUM is eager to welcome our Uzbek guests and share Malaysia’s vibrant heritage, culture, and academic excellence with them.
