112 PALAPES CADETS COMMISSIONED AS JUNIOR OFFICERS IN THE MILITARY RESERVE FORCE OF THE MALAYSIAN ARMY

112 PALAPES CADETS COMMISSIONED AS JUNIOR OFFICERS IN THE MILITARY RESERVE FORCE OF THE MALAYSIAN ARMY

UUM ONLINE: 112 cadets from the Reserve Officer Training Unit (PALAPES), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) were commissioned as Junior Officers in the military reserve force of the Malaysian army (ATM) at the 34th Royal Commissioning Ceremony of PALAPES Cadet Officers of the Public Higher Learning Institutions of Malaysia. The ceremony was held at the parade ground, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

54 Army cadets, 38 Air force cadets and 22 Navy cadets were involved in the commissioning ceremony.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Duli Yang Maha Muli, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj.

1620 PALAPES cadet officers from 18 universities including the cadets from the Malaysian Maritime Academy (ALAM) were commissioned in the ceremony.

The commissioning exercise commenced on 1 to 16 August involving 29 UUM PALAPES trainers, 41 junior assistant officers, 14 junior student officers and 5 staff volunteers.

Earlier on, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak held a meeting with the cadets and share some words of encouragement with them.

Also present at the ceremonial Royal Parade was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim.
