MASTER’S PROGRAMMES


Applicants for the Master’s Program under the UUM College of Arts and Sciences must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.75; or
  2. A Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of less than 2.75 and working experience in a related field; or
  3. A Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Pure Sciences or Science and Technology or any other Professional field from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.50; or
  4. A Bachelor’s degree in Pure Sciences or Science and Technology or any other Professional field from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of less than 2.50 and working experience in a related field; or
  5. A Diploma from any institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience and aged 35 years or older; or
  6. Any other equivalent qualifications recognised by the University Senate; and
  7. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

 

Applicants for the Master’sProgram under the UUM College of Business and Othman Yeop Graduate School of Business must possess the following conditions:

  1. Master of Business Administration;
  2. A Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.75; and
  3. At least three (3) years of work experience relevant to the chosen area of specialisation or a good score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT); and
  4. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

OR

  1. A diploma from any institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience and aged 35 years or older; and
  2. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate;
  3. Master’s Degree Other Than MBA Programmes;
  4. A Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 3.00; and
  5. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

OR

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.75; and
  2. At least two (2) years of relevant working experience or a good score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)/ Graduate Record Examination (GRE); and
  3. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

OR

  1. A diploma from any institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience and aged 35 years or older; and
  2. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

 

*Note:

Applicants who do not meet any of the above postgraduate admission requirements can still be considered for enrolment upon recommendation by the Postgraduate Committee and endorsement by the Senate. Applicant may be required to attend an interview.


Applicants for the Master’s Program under the UUM College of Law, Government and International Studiesmust possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate; or
  2. A Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate with at least three (3) years working experience in a related field; or
  3. A Diploma with ten (10) years’ working experience and minimum age of 35 years; or
  4. Any other equivalent qualifications recognised by the University Senate; and
  5. Fulfill the English language requirement.

 

DOCTORAL PROGRAMME

Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)program must possess the following:

  1. A Master’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate; or
  2. A Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of at least 3.50 from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate; or
  3. Any other equivalent qualifications recognised by the University Senate; and
  4. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

 

Applicants for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program must possess the following:

  1. A Master’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate or any other equivalent qualification recognised by the University Senate; and
  2. A minimum of five (5) years of work experience relevant to the chosen area of specialisation, or a good score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT); and
  3. Fulfill the English language requirement as set by the University Senate

 

*Note:
Senior Manager with Bachelor’s degree from any institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate and with at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience may be considered for admission

 

NOTES:

  1. Acceptance of students is subjected to the fulfillment of specific requirements of the respective Graduate Schools and Programs.
  2. 0.05 point will be added to the current CGPA for each year of relevant work experience, if the Postgraduate Committee believes that the candidates have the potential to be admitted. The adjusted CGPA should not, however, exceed the total CGPA of 3.75.
